Substrate:

Bedrock and boulder bottom interspersed with gravel and sand (20:80).

Large amount of leaf little present in pools.

Vegetation:

No instream vegetation noted

Riparian zone extends 15-20’ on either side and has a canopy height of 20-25’.

Morphology:

Riffle-Pool-Riffle morphology

Riffles are 8" deep; Pools are up to 20" deep.

Collection Details

Date/Time Collected:

September 23th, 2006 @ 5:27 p.m.

Collection Methods:

Dip net, and seine (although seine proved too unwieldy for much of the river).

Species Collected:

Pachypanchax sp. affn. sparksorum

Tillapia sp.

Population Numbers:

Twenty-five P. sp. affn. sparksorum captured in one hour by two people with dip nets.

Size range of specimens was 1.5-3.0" T.L., with the majority being sub-adult individuals.

General Comments:

Pachypanchax were collected in deeper parts of pools still receiving flowing water, usually over predominately sand substrate receiving some non-filtered light
